We have just finished compiling 18 months of data regarding several types of fungi that seem to be affecting bearded dragons from multiple case studies and written a summary.
In many cases the same fungus was found and what we believe what may be the cause of it.
One type still eludes us, and it is particularly deadly. Although we also found this one in bearded dragons that had previous treatments with medications, that we think are causing the other fungal problems, without credible research on it we can not say that the catalyst exists in their natural fauna like the other fungi.
That one is Chrysosporium anamorph of Nannizziopsis vriesii, but there is a researcher also working with it and hopefully he will have more information soon.
From what we are reading in the data, this one appears it may be originating in soil.
This is a marvellous breakthrough, Cheri. Congratulations on what you have done so far, best wishes for the future research, and may you have every success in saving many beardies' lives in the future.
There are more and more "probiotics" for human and animal use coming onto the market. I haven't been able to find information about the results of feeding these to beardies. What have people tried? What has been their effect, if any, on their beardie's appetite and digestion?

I want to thank everyone that had anything to do with this report. You may have just saved 2 or 3 more dragons. A couple of weeks ago I noticed a yellowish discoloration on my first female (Rocket) and wasn't sure what it was. Not sure that it did any good or any harm, but not knowing I treated the area with peroxide. Knowing what I know now, and reading what has been posted on this website there will be considerable differences made in the daily routines with all TWELVE of my dragons. Due to this page, I have been able to work with my local vet in getting this problem handled and hopefully within a few weeks all of my babies will be back to 100% good health and will continue to provide me with more wonderful babies as we start the breeding process again here in a couple of weeks. Thanks again to all who have worked so hard and diligently to figure out what this is and help fellow bearded dragon owners and breeders care for their babies.

I have a female dragon with possible yellow fungus on her head. The age of her is unknown. I used some reptilite sand in her cage. I have jungle mix soil in the cage too. ( in the egg laying sight)How can I post a photo?
