Hello,
I have done a search and I didn't find anything that is the same problem as mine but I recently bought a humidity gauge and it is saying that my tanks humidity is 65%. Someone asked if 40% is okay and the response was normal house humidity is okay. I am pretty sure it is way to humid in there. Are there any ways to get it down? Right now I have the fan in my room running. |

Sometimes ambient humidity gets up there... could just be the weather. If it's overly high all the time, you could consider a dehumidifier for that room... but my guess is that it will go down. My ambient is about 50% and I don't have issues.

alright, it's been like that since yesterday though and my room is the hottest in the house. How much would a dehumidifier cost?

Put the water dish on the cool side (which yours is)
Use a heat lamp Run a dehumidifier in the room Make sure the hygrometer (humidity gauge) is not beside the humid hide Those are the only ways I know of to drop humidity. I'm not sure it's a big enough deal to worry about it though. Right now, it's cool and raining here, and our humidity is 50% When I asked a similar question a while back, I never got a specific answer, but was directed to a weather in Pakistan site. The humidity there seems to go up and down, just like it does here

A heat lamp? Instead of a UTH or use both?
Are de humidifiers expensive? Oh, well I need to move my hygrometer then If the humidity gets higher i will update this topic, for now I will move my hygrometer and see what happens. |

I'm just saying that by boosting your ambient air temps, (heat lamp) you should pull some humidity out of your tank; unless your entire house humidity is at that level. I wouldn't use the heat lamp instead. I might use it in addition, if the humidity was a real and continuous problem.
Yes, dehumidifiers are expensive. Moving the hygrometer (even try putting it on the cool side away from the water dish) is probably the simplest solution You want the humid hide to be humid (otherwise we wouldn't give them a humid hide ) and I suppose that if the hygrometer is very close to the humid hide, the humidity from the humid hide could affect it's reading.
I didn't have a hygrometer last summer, and I live in the hot humid southeast. Now that I have one, it will be interesting to see what the humidity is like. If anyone has problems with humidity, I should! |

you can try a small fan with the heat lamp - lift the moisture into the air then blow it away - even just for an hour or two when it gets extra high
