Hello,

The breeder I got my leo from said he is going to shed soon, I got him to go in his hide all by himself by showing him it a lot and he is staying in it but I am not sure how he will look after his shed. How am I supposed to know if he has shed tomorrow? I will be picking up some silk worms and shed aid but I am not sure how he will look. Could someone post pictures of close to before they shed and after the shed?

I think he is going to shed soon then. He wasn't extremely milky white like the other one but he is dull. I can take a picture in better light by putting him in the container I got him in if that would help.

yesterday he was really calm when I held him and today when I held him he tried to jump out so I let him out of my hand back in his tank is there a reason for this? Do they not like to be handled when they are shedding?

has nothing to do with shedding. its going to take alot of time. i can hold leela all day without any issues but when it comes to FRY he is VERY picky. ive gotten him from biting and hissing to ok you can hold me but only for a few minutes. he doesnt bite or anything but will try and run out of my hands. some leo's love to be held some dont. just remember Slow hand movements and hold him often so he gets used to you.

you just got him so give him time to adjust. its up to you on the shedding part. you really CAN tell if he is shedding or not. he will be a white color.

alright, I will make updates all the time. He is dull and has a kind of noticible whitish on him. I am guessing he is going to shed this week. He was jump in the morning, but he is calm again. I held him for 40 minutes yesterday without probably and today only like 5 minutes because he is always in his humid hide and he is scared because my baby cousin pushed the tank and it shook a lot but not off the stand.

Give your leo at least a week before you start handling him. He's stressed from being moved and in a new place. Stress can cause serious side effects. Also, if he is in his hide, do not go in there to take him out. That will stress him out even more. Only handle him if he is out, and preferably when he crawls onto your hand. The best thing to do would be to slowly introduce yourself to him. Let him smell your hand (if he's out) while you're doing daily cleaning. Also, try putting your hand in there around feeding time so he can smell you, then he gets a reward - dinner.

They can stay dull for a few days before they actually shed. Smeagol is about ready to shed (his colours have dulled) and he's been like that for a couple of days now. It's really obvious when they've shed so don't stress.

alright, thanks. I have fed him a little bit, some mealies, like 5 today and 10 yesterday and as far as I have seen hasn't pooed yet is there a reason? Alright, I will let him settle in, I have been handling him a lot and he seems to like me, he always stays on my hand and stuff.

He was crawling up my friend and I and he went around my room and he was happy, really happy. But when my sister said to put him away he didn't want to go back, he bit me. I am guessing this is normal? I will post some pictures everyday and give an update on his shedding and all. How long does it usually take to get him really calm? He walked onto my arm with my picking him up and we let him out but was all the excitement the reason for the bite? Also from the pictures, does my geckos tail look fat enough? I am going to feed him waxworms for the first time tomorrow. how long does it usually take for small mealies to die? Mine die in a day after I put them in the tank usually... I am going to get some superworms or giant mealworms soon because I think the normal ones do not fill him up. Also, where could I get silkworms? Would my local petsmart be able to order them for me?
