I just got a Nephrurus(Underwoodisaurus) Milli, it's about 2 months old, around 3 inches in length. I got it about 3 days ago, it hasn't eaten since and doesn't show any interest in half inch crickets at all. Is this normal? I know it's sort of new to it's new encloser, so is it supposed to not eat a few days while it gets used to it's new home? Anything I should be worried about?
Thanks |

I'm not familiar with that species, but it usually takes geckos about 1- 1 1/2 weeks to get adjusted enough to where they will eat. Just make sure you don't leave the crickets in the cage, crickets that he's not interested in eating will stress him out even more. They have a tendency to feed on your geckos if they are hungry. You can try every night to see if he will eat. After an hour I'd remove the crickets. Also it would help the little guy get adjusted if you try not to handle him, and keep the room dark. I'd definitely try feeding him while it's dark, that way he doesn't feel threatened or scared of you to come out. Also count the crickets you put in, then when you take them out you can count them again and see if he did eat any.
If he's the little guy in your avatar, he's very cute! Once he finally gets adjusted to his new home definitely take more pics, we always love drooling over other's collections.
Also I noticed info on these are rare, I'm sure you've done your research, but just in case. http://www.goldengategeckos.com/carethicktail.pdf -------------------- ![]() 0.1.0 Green Iguana, 0.1.0 Viper Gecko, 3.5.0 Pictus Geckos, 2.2.0 Crested Geckos 1.0.0 Gargoyle Gecko |
