Tomorrow I graduate college!!! Very Happy After 4 years of homework and exams and a large amount of stress, I'll have my B.S. degree in psychobiology (aka animal behaviour)! Grad school is a possibility in the future, but not right away. Right now, I'm going to be gaining more experience with native and non-native species while I look for a job at a conservation and / or rehabilitation center. I'm excited about this, but also I'm a lotta bit scared at the real world that I'm being forced into.

The next few days will be crazy with the ceremony, family stuff, moving out of one place and into another, etc. so I probably won't be on consistently for a few days.

Oh, congratz to you too then! What are you getting your doctorate in?

I have a feeling I'll go back someday. I saw the grad students getting their masters stuff and just though "I want that!" I need to keep my brain working too. I never thought I'd say that I'd miss reading and critiquing articles, but I think I will.

Congrats Orca! Are you just going to do psychobiology on animals, or humans as well?

I now realize with my addiction to my herps, I think that's the field I should be going into, but it's a shame that I also have a passion for art and have completed 3 years of that with only 2 years left. So I'm torn with what I really want.

Thats awesome! I have quite a bit more time before I finish college, since I took time off and stuff, but I am very happy you're almost done.

I was considering psychobiology, but I am just gunna go pre-vet, and then get to vet school once I decide I am ready. All I really want is a bachelor's, and then I'll take my life as it is from there.

Yeah, not working with humans. Ever. LOL. I'll have to work with them enough with whatever job I have (always have to have those people skills) so I will focus on animals as much as possible. You could incorporate art with animals you know too. I don't know what kind of art you do, but my buddy that does photography focuses on animal portraits and wildlife. Plus, she volunteers at local wildlife organizations as well. You can have part of both worlds!

Ahh yes Jill, but the only way to get a decent job here in the US is with a college degree.. it's sad.

Orca, I've definitely been getting better at photographing my reptiles. I'll keep that in mind. Although, the art I usually do is drawing human portraits. I originally wanted to be a Criminal Sketch Artist.

The crime sketch artists sounds cool. The only way I can think of incorporating forensic stuff with animals would be to train cadaver dogs or drug searching dogs. There is always a way to do two things that you love Smile

And yes, a college degree is almost mandatory. But even now, its starting to not be enough and masters and doctorates are needed.

Woops I edited that post, then the site loaded slow so I hit enter twice. Didn't realize it duplicated it. Sorry.

Yeah, the only reason I'm doubting the criminal sketch artist is because I'd have to move to a bigger city. Not to mention it's mainly a freelance job. Forensics is really cool though. I'd love to work for the FBI.

Anyways, how was your graduation? Did you party hard afterwards? Still recuperating? Razz
