1. What substrate are you using? Tile
2. What sized enclosure do you have your leo in? 30 gallon
3. What are your warm side temperatures? 88-92 (94.8 every hour or so o.O)
4. How are the temperatures measured? Probe thermometer
5. What are you using as your heat source? UTH and lamps
6. Do you have any method of regulating the temperatures? Not yet
7. How many hides do you have for your leo? What are they? 1 warm, 1 middle, and 1 cool - in the process of getting a new humid hide
8. What food have you offered? mealworms
9. How often do you offer food? constant
10. Are you supplementing the food? If so, with what and how often? constant
11. How old is your leo? 3 years
12. How long have you had your leo? 3 years
13. Give a little detail about the behaviour of the Leo also
Number 13 is the problem(?) My gecko's been tilting and raising his tail and attempting to lick it. I've heard they do this sometimes, except that there is a small amount of white-ish puss(?) attempting to come out each time. What is this? Is it bad, how bad? And what can I do to help, if needed?
Thanks.
UPDATE: He hadn't been eating for a few days, because of stress (moved cages twice), but I woke up this morning and half of his mealworms in the dish were gone. Good sign, methinks. |

| I can't believe that I missed this thread! You said that your leopard gecko is a male, right? This sounds like he may be excreting semen or seminal plugs. Is he still pooping normally? |

That's alright, I'm surprised you're the only one to post though. And yes, he is normal. But, he hasn't pooped since I've moved him into a new cage (a few days). Although, it should be noted that he is eating like he normally does, or even more. Thanks for the response. |

I know it's coming up on University finals for me, perhaps other people are in the same boat. I'm glad you didn't get skipped over though.
As for your leo I would keep up on the feeding and see how he is doing in the next few days. I think it's worthwhile to do some reading on seminal plugs as well to see if you think that could be what you are seeing. Hopefully after a few more days in his new home he will have sorted things out. |

I've concluded that it's a seminal plug, and it's still in there.
"Once they grow in length as high up as the vent, the tops of the plugs begin to trap feces when the lizard poops. In time, you will see two pieces of hard smooth poop in the lizard's vent. You can try to remove them yourself. First, soak the lizard in a warm bath. Then using gloved hands or a couple of layers of facial tissue, gently rock one of the plugs from side to side as you gently pull. The plug should pop out. A bit of the hemipene may evert a bit with the plug but the hemipene should retract back into the tail. Repeat with the second plug, if there is one." http://www.anapsid.org/seminalplugs.html
There are two little beads near his vet, what do I do? I'd rather fix him myself than take him to a vet. Any advice? |

| Has he gone back to eating? I would try to give him some more time to pass them on his own. If he is still struggling with them in a week or if there are other negative changes in his behavior you can try the method that you linked. |

He still seems to be interested in food, and actually just emptied his dish today - but still no poo. Thanks for the post.
EDIT: I am cleaning out his cage at the moment, and it seems poo has been hiding on me. It looks as if there is 3 to 4 different pairs of feces and urates, but kind of small. Cleaning it up now.
EDIT: Was cleaning the cage, and Tino escaped while I was downstairs for two minutes. I came back up, he was gone and, luckily, I found him within 2 minutes. Laying down underneath my bed. At maximum he would have fallen 1.5', but I think he fell alongside the wall, which would have slowed him down quite a bit. He seems perfectly fine, though. |

So long as he is pooping you are okay... they like to change locations on us at the most inconvenient times don't they. From your description I think they are seminal plugs too - I've had males pass them easily by themselves. My male this year took the best part of two weeks to pass them. You don't really need to worry about them at this stage I don't think but give it a few more days and then try the method on the Kaplan site (it's not often I'll suggest following her advice but in this case it is fairly sound, just don't force them too much) |
