I hope this is the right spot for this long and odd question.
So I'm a research assistant at my university and my adviser and I need custom tanks for the fish we study (it is all behavior stuff, so no fish are harmed ). What we ideally need is 30 to 40 tanks that are 20 x 10 x 7" (~6 gallons). But to ship such tanks would eat up $500 of our grant money and we really can't afford that. My next thought was what about those long but short critter keeper things that Lee's makes? They may not be as clear as the glass but they should do the job.
My issue is that I can't find the dimensions of these containers and where I could get so many of them. But if I could at least get the measurements and/or the exact product name, I could special order them from a local pet store. Anyone know? Or does anyone have one of these and feels like measuring it for me? Thanks!

Isnt 20x10x7 pretty close to the dimensions of a 10 gallon tank?
Well those long critter keepers I see have a problem for your cause... they tend to have holes slit in at the top. I dont think I have ever seen the long ones without the holes, so that would take away a good 2 inches of your height. And the ones that are taller and can hold fish are surprisingly expensive... I went to a store and their biggest plastic keeper (around 10 gallons) was 10 bucks more than a 10 gal aquarium and screen lid together. However in my search I did find this: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/reptil...m-breeding-box/ I don't know if thats good on size but LLL has a bunch of different plastic cages and includes all of the dimensions: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/reptil...ket-containers/ Hope that helps. |

Ooooooo, I like those Exo Terra ones. I knew the ones I looked at had those little slits, but they were only a couple inches and that would have been okay. But now those others fixed that problem. I'll pass it on to the professor and see what she says. Thanks!
(And yes, its just like a 10 gallon, only half the height )
