So I finally got everything needed for my Visionariums. I decided to put the uth on the back glass because I didn't want the chance of it melting the bottoms, nor did I want it to overheat Evie on the bottom. Plus my my pictus and viper geckos are ground dwelling, so it's usually better to have the uth on the back. Anyways here's the pics;

Starting from the top, here's Gex my Viper Gecko's cage,

Gex hiding,

Directly below Gex we have Stubby my female Pictus,

On the prowl,

Beside Stubby we have Diego, my male pictus (he's rather shy... or just stubborn cause his manhood has been cut off in the sense he can't get his freak on with Stubby anymore.)

In his hide,

Pic from cell phone, the only pic I have of him not hiding,

Diagonally from Diego, we have Evie my Crested Gecko,

That's all my visionarium pics, now I can't show all of those guys love without showing Tiny Hendrix and Harley some love as well,
Tiny Hendrix female Iguana,

Great setups and excellent choice of reptiles (same as I have on many lol). ;3 And huzah for the iguana in a great cage!

Your visionariums look just like mine minus a carpet. I even have that EXACT UTH in mine, brand and size.

Wow beautiful setups. I especially am jealous of your cages by design cage for your iguana! Also I wanted to ask, I bought a few visionariums with the dividers like you have, but every time I open the cage it makes this terrible nails-on-blackboard squeak. Does that happen with you? I stopped using the dividers because of it lol.

Great setups! smile.gif

I know you had been asking about those visionariums a while back, so I'm really glad they worked out for you. I like how they look.

Just an aside, the hammock that you have in Evie's cage, I got one for my 4 Bombina (Firbelly Toads) and they actually love it, LOL.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing!!!

Thanks everyone.

Duel, That's awesome. You'll have to post pics of yours and all your little ones, we would love to see them!

Jill, Yes very worth the wait. At first they looked tiny with their dividers, but then I realized all my terrestrial geckos that are in those cages (besides the crestie) doesn't need a whole lot of room, cause they rarely use it. Until Evie is 4 months old she doesn't need a lot of room either hehe. Although, that little one is becoming quite the porker, she out weighed everyone in terms of how much she gained in the past month.

Yes plenty of room for baby pictus in there hehe. And Tiny always has that do not bother me look until she wants food. Then she's at the bottom of the cage scratching at the glass. Trust me she won't let me sleep a minute over 7am, she knows when her feeding time is!

Coexist, Yes there was terrible screeching at first. You have to make sure when you put them in that it "pops" into place up top. Just keep tapping against it and you will know what I'm talking about. Also, I find it helps if you have the door that's on the right side of the cage, the outside door. That way the left side door is the only one rubbing against the divider. Something about which way they open is how it makes a difference on the noise.

Anna,
Yeah finally, I had some issues at first cause they didn't send my dividers with my visionariums, and as you can see how important they are hehe. I put the hammock in my other geckos cages, they didn't care for it, the crickets got more use out of it than them! Evie likes it, she will sleep on it as long as I have fake plants over it, that way she can sleep under the plants and on the hammock. She's doing that right now as I'm typing this.

I get a lot of compliments on the cages by design cage, it's definitely worth the money. The only thing I dread about it is in a few months when I plan on moving, it sure will be fun tearing it apart and putting it back together. :|

haha yes, I guess it's good my pictus babies decided to hatch or I would have that very same problem. I have to save room for them hehe. Hopefully their sexes turn out to be more females than males that way I can take some of the dividers down, otherwise I might have to buy more visionariums! hehe.

It's becoming harder and harder to decide which ones I want to keep and sell. They each have very neat little personalities. I might just say the hell with it and keep them all hehe. One I'm quite fond of sits on his butt like a dog and watches his surroundings. Crappy quality, but my digi camera scares them.

Haha I just picked up a small group of pictus geckos and I'm really excited for them! I'm debating whether or not to set them up in my visionarium. The three females are gunna go in the larger cage, the male will be alone until I am ready to begin breeding smile.gif

If you don't put the separator in, your three females should fit perfectly in a visionarium. You would be amazed of how little space they actually use. They sleep, eat, then go back and sleep some more.

Since pictus are extremely prolific, just make sure after your females have laid 2 clutches you must remove the male. Females are known to die early because of over breeding. They are also known for retaining sperm, so they will definitely lay all their clutches of eggs without a male present. After you remove your male, he will be very mad at you lol. Diego is still is mad I took away his lover. Also remember they don't have a breeding season, they can breed all year round.

I'm sure you probably already knew all that, I just wanted to remind you.

If you have any questions on these guys don't be afraid to ask. biggrin.gif

Congrats! Post pics when they arrive! tongue.gif Also, tell whoever is sending them to not put them all in the same container. My female dropped her tail during the shipping process cause the guy I bought her off put them in the same container. This was back in oct and she still hasn't fully grown her tail, but I'm not complaining we went through a stressful time our first few months, I'm very proud of my little lady. I could only imagine if all 3 of your females were together!

Haha yea I knew all of this in advance, and I know the guy is shipping them separately, they all live separately.

I didn't use a visionarium but I have a 20 long set up for the females, and a 10 for the male. I am only going to put the females in one at a time when I am ready to breed them. Gotta get my incubator up to my apartment first.

But I am really excited about them nothing is cuter than baby pictus.

There was one question I had, though. One website I was reading on told me that the eggs are so fragile that you cannot pick them up with your fingers, rather you need to use a spoon. Personally, I think my fingers are gentler than me with a spoon in my hand. What did you do when you transported them from the moist hide to the incubator?

I actually broke the first few picking them up with my fingers, I just learned to be more gentle. Always make sure to dig carefully, trust me they bury these things down to the glass lol. Then when you get the egg out don't tip it over, get a sharpie and put a mark across the top and put them in the incubator that way. I also found you really don't need an incubator, they say to incubate them at 82 degrees, but as long as you keep them somewhere where it's room temperature and the humidity is 70-80% they don't need to be incubated. A good example, I recently moved all my geckos to the visionariums, I put the 20 gal long that I kept my male and female in downstairs till I could clean it out. While I was cleaning the cage I found an egg. You should have seen all the veins! So as long as the humidity is right you don't have to waste your money on an incubator, unless you already got one, or are more comfortable. I kind of wish I knew that before mine laid eggs, but the eggs were unexpected so I freaked and rushed to the nearest Rural King lol.

Mine hatched exactly 2 months and 1 week. If that helps you any. Also, something I found to be very very helpful. Go to a craft store and buy one of those plastic containers that have the separators (to separate buttons or whatever craft things you would put in there) And I just put vermiculite in each on the little sections, and poked holes in the top, and when the eggs were laid they each had their own little compartment, and I wrote the date and taped it to it. When the eggs hatch the hatchlings are stuck in that little compartment until you get them out, very easy compared to trying to chase a little guy all over the container hehe.

Also, the first couple eggs will most likely be infertile, but trust me she will produce many many fertile ones. So don't let the first few bum you out. (They will be a light white and some spots look almost clear and you will definitely see yellow, those are the infertile ones.) Fertile ones are completely white, you can't see anything unless you candle them, and I never bothered candling any of mine, just put them in the incubator and looked at my calendar and marked the approx date they would hatch.

Wow I certainly rambled on there. hehe. Definitely post pics when the little ones arrive! Are they going to be babies? Mine bred at a young age, but if you read my old thread they were suppose to be both females. Then when the male developed his bulges it was already too late, he didn't waste any time lol. The preferred breeding age is at least a year or when the female is over 20g. My female was only 4g when she was laying eggs, which is why I say we went through rough times, but she's a survivor. You could see how stressed both her and I were. Just ask Jill hehe.

Edit: Also females don't always lay the eggs in the humid hides, lol luckily for us, they often leave a large pile of dirt where they lay the eggs. So you generally know where to dig.

Alright thanks for the info. That craft box thing is a REALLY good idea I'll have to pick one of those up. I know most of the stuff about how to handle eggs, tell if they are fertile or not, and incubating from when I bred leopard geckos. And I also have an incubator from then. I always wondered why you cannot turn the egg, and I was always afraid that when I would dig for eggs I would turn them and kill the baby. But never had a problem like that. And they came in as adults and subadults (1.1 adult, 0.2 subadults) so I can start breeding soon smile.gif. I posted pics in another thread! Hope you like them!

I saw your thread and commented very cute! Glad to have another member with pictus geckos hehe.

As for why you can't turn the eggs, it's because the babies will drown. So they always have to be incubated the way they were laid.

Hey, looks like my stack! Instead of putting all the cords out the front, you should thread them out through the access port on the back left side on the bottom. I popped the access holes on the top, put my thermostat cords and thermometers through that and out the side. I didn't even notice they were there till I had 2 completely made. Also, don't worry about melting the plastic. I also have th 6x11" UTHs and they're perfect. As long as they're properly regulated, you're fine, so if you ever decide to move em, it's not an issue.

I've had my stack up since last summer and I'd NEVER go back to regular tanks now!! As for the adorable babies... I want all of them... hahah. They are just adorable!! Hey! Where in IL are you? Do you ever go to the Lake County show? I live in Kenosha, WI, (southeast corner).
