Switching off particulate substrate to something solid is always a good idea. Reptile carpet is good, as is tile. The carpet comes in various sizes, is easily cut for you viv and comes in packs of two so you can wash one ad have the other in the tank.
Livefoods.co.uk is a good place to get the carpet:

I used to use this one: http://www.petzoo.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=131&products_id=487 before I switched over to ceramic tiles. My leos never got burns from it but did occasionally snag a claw or tooth in it when hunting.
It does shrink quite a bit so it's best to wash it a couple of times (I just threw it in the washing machine) before cutting it to size. |

| It will shrink a little more but not nearly as much. |

| In the sticky thread of linked articles, we have a huge long thread of leo tanks; many of them have tile. |
