I've just gone on to www.pollywog.co.uk to get some phoenix worms but they no longer list them. They do however now sell something called Calci grubs.
Does anyone know if they're actually the same thing just re-named? Thanks, Bex |

I think they are. In the states they have some companies naming them phoenix worms, and others calling them calci-worms.
Wow they're pretty cheap on there too. |

i dont know if they are or not but they're about half the price i paid for the tub of phoenix worms. the care of them does sound like they are the same thing though

Thanks. I'm going to order some and I'll let you know, but it does sound like they're the same thing. I might e-mail the site to check first...

Well I got my (very quick) answer!:
Hi,CalgiGrubs & Phoenix Worms are both the same species, our sister company Pollywog Livefoods have stopped importing Phoenix Worms from America and are now producing them here in the UK. As Phoenix Worm is a trade mark of the US producers we have had to rename them hance calling them CalciGrubs which we actually think is a much better name anyway :)By producing them here in the UK we have been able to lower the price to half that of Phoenix Worms and makes them much fresher. If you are after just CalciGrubs you can get free postage and discounted prices by buying direct from Pollywog Livefoods www.calcigrubs.co.uk Many thanks,Andrew |

Wow that's great. I wonder if they're easily bred. They're such a great feeder!

I've ordered some directly off the Pollywog Livefoods site too, they should come any day now
Will they be okay used as a staple feeder mixed with mealies? The high calcium won't have any negative effects will it? |

Even with the postal strikes on going... Apart from the fact you would need to wait a bit longer for them to come- you have no worries about them dying off in the post (unless the royal mail manage to crush the tubs!)
They last really well in their little tubs for ages- no feeding required. So they transport much better than any other live feeder insects I know! |

Yeah leo's have got more sensitive sense of smell when it comes to their food! lol
Honestly though- I don't think the bedding stuff they are in smells either (well not to my human nose anyway). In fact much more pleasant than crix & mealies. |

They can be fed to AFTs, they are a great feeder. I haven't tried with AFTs, but my leo loved them.
