How do i know if he is getting enough to eat? I have heard 1.5 the width of the snake, does someone have a picture to show this because im not quite sure i am feeding the right size... He ate his pinkie in less than 30 seconds today! I am going to get a digital scale next time i go into town so i can weigh him and see how much he weighs. He is about a foot long (maybe a tiny bit bigger) if that give you any idea. I gave him 2 pinkies today since i dont want to starve him just in case... Pictures or help please.

Also he is staying in the cold hide instead of the warm hide all the time. I put the probe in the warm hide since that is where he should be (not under aspen but on top) and it reads 82.4 (i dont let it get above 85 or under 80 on the warm side during the day as instructed) Is that normal? shouldn't he want to be where it is warm? Do you think maybe he doesnt like being around the probe or something?
At first i thought it was the hide itself that he liked better so i changed the hides around so that the one he spends most the time in is on the warm side. he still stays on the cold side though...

Any suggestion?

What kind of snake is it? if the pray item leaves a lump in the belly then its enough. Feed once every 7-10 days. You can feed one big item or a few little items. Its possible its just adjusting. I keep my corns at an ambient temp of around 78f with a drop at night. Whats the hide situation on the warm side? If its not secure enough, then the snake will not go there. Its possible that the snake perfers the cooler side and maybe uses the warm side at night. These guys are very hardy snakes and can survive in temps as low as 40f. I'd say he's fine. Keep him warm, fed and watered with a few hides and he'll be a good snake.

if its just a little baby...which i'm guessing it is since its only a foot long 10 days between each meal is to long it should be every 5 to 7 days since it just a baby once hes a juvie/adult he can go 7-10 days.

how big around is he? that'll help decide what you should feed him.
