Full Version: Pet store selling wild snakes?
The Reptile Rooms > Snakes > Corns & Rat Snakes

I live in Leavenworth, KS, and when I went to get my blizzard corn a fuzzy today I took a closer look at a snake that they had had for sale for a while, and I realized that it is a native species to Kansas and based on the fact that it is nearly adult size, I assume that it is a wild caught snake. Does anyone know the legislation in your state about selling wild caught animals in pet shops? I know that they cannot be collected bred for commercial purposes but I'm not sure about collecting and selling. I'll probably call KDWP tomorow and check.

I would imagine that collecting and selling is just as bad.
HOWEVER I do know sometimes people catch these snakes in their houses and take them into pet stores instead of releasing them (not quite sure why) and then the pet stores sell them...for whatever reason.
