Hey all,
We have a cornsnake as you know, Rayna. She's over a year old now. I'm just wondering what kind of feeding schedule is appropriate. She's on fuzzies.
As well, how big should she get? As in, length, as well as body thickness (inches round).
She is a ghost cross. Can't remember with what though. anery a I believe. I can't remember... I keep getting her cross mixed up with my beardie's LOL. She is turning a little orangey/hellow on her cheeks and neck on her underside. Hopefully that helps...But anyway.
Thanks!

you can frobably go up to small adult mice. 2 of those a week probably.
the girth of an adult is about 5 or 6 inches circumference i think

small mouse? Her neck is smaller than the size of a pencil...the fuzzies still make a sizeable lump in her...I just took over feeding her, she was getting fed one fuzzy a week by the previous person. I will up this to twice a week if that's the case.

Yes, I'm 100% sure she's over a year old. Bought her at a reptile show. She is a VERY small cornsnake even from what I've seen. I'll try to get pictures and post them. She's really really slender, but has an alright length.

Wow if your snake is over a year old she must be a runt.
So I'm gonna disagree on the two adult mice, that's a lot unless it's a full grown snake. Hoppers or weaned mice are the next size up, and I'm almost positive you need to bump your snake up to those bigger sizes.

Adult mice aren't really THAT big most of the time (unless of course you get large adult mice). Most pet stores and certainly all frozen/thawed websites designate the differences. I'm sure if you throw a small adult mouse to your snake and wait, it'll be gone. If not...no big deal. Thats my logic anyway.

Alrighty here we go:
Sorry about the quality, she doesn't like sitting still
Opinions on what I should be feeding/how often should I feed? I can get a pic of her lump after she eats a fuzzy...

I say try weaned 14-20g mice, I find it very hard to believ that there's any lump after a fuzzy o_O unless you're fuzzies are way different than what we're imagining.

Well believe it
honestly you can take my word for it. Fuzzies make sizeable lumps in this lil girl.
I think I'll stick with fuzzies for a bit, just increase feeding to twice a week.
Thanks for your opinions.

I've always heard it's time to bump up when the mice you're feeding don't make a lump in the snake's body... also that they can take feeders up to 1.5 times their widest point. With that info and regular feeding, I'm sure the little one will grow in no time. My corn was the smallest of his clutch mates and seems to be taking his time growing up too. Good Luck!
edit: Also, I don't know how your supplier is, but when I fed fuzzies, I would sometimes get mice little bigger than pinkies, but with more fur and other times get a mouse more like a hopper. That could also be making a difference in opinions here?

It's not bump up if theres no lump, its bump it up if after one day the lump is gone.

Will keep that in mind. Thanks.

I've never heard that before. Just a question though, if it's suggested to leave the snake alone for 48 hours after it's eaten, how do you know if the lump has gone in a day?

Just take a quick look, you needn't handle it just to look at it. I've read this "rule of thumb" in both Kathy Love's book and Dan Soderberg's book.

Well for my snake, she's hiding "out in the open" after feeding so for me its easy to see.
I must have overlooked it. I'll defeinitely keep this in mind.
