my corn snake was caught wild and had never bit me ever... i loved it cuz even my last store bought baby corn struck at me a few times... so i thought this guy (about 2 1/2 feet) was meant for me or sumthin tongue.gif anyways i was feeding him in his little separate feeding tank and i was stupid enough to reach in and grab him to pull him away from the mouse box (it wasnt open yet and i didnt want him to get stuck in the hole in the box) and he jolted around and bit me... i bled for a while and my feelings were hurt but i brushed the incident off as my own stupidity (and of course it was)... but the next time i went to grab him (about 3-4 days later out of his normal tank) he was curled inside his rock... i usually just reach in his rock and pull him out but this time i was overly cautious and wanted to see if he'd bite me again.. so i lifted his rock and had my hand infront of him... he waited for about 20 secs and then struck at me... ever since i've been too scared to get him out of his tank by hand sad.gif he always seems to get in strinking pose when i reach my hand in... its so sad and i'm not sure if its just that he can sense im afraid or if hes rlly become a bit aggressive....

sorry that was such a long story but can anyone tell me if they can rlly sense im afraid and if so how do i fix it >.< i can't help it but when i get my hand near him when hes in his tank my heart rate increases dramatically... soooo yeaahh...

Well, this happens to everyone (getting bit I mean) so don't worry. I understand that you're feeling insecure, and that's natural. What I did when I brought home a biter (she's a king) is that when she tagged me, I just kept holding her. Eventually they realize that you aren't food and that you aren't going to let go even if they "act out" it will relax and let go. If you're gun-shy about the idea of getting bit more, get a rubber or leather glove and wear it when picking him up. And don't hesitate, just reach in calmly and get him out. Good luck.

Two of my corns went through this stage and all I did is take the hide out and look at them through the tank. Now after a while they knew I wouldnt hurt them and let me hold them again. Also when your done put the hide back in.

yeah when my snake sees me outside his tank he just stares and stays motionless... if i stay still long enough he moves enough to get inside his rock then looks at me from inside it... but i like the rubber glove idea... cuz when ever he bit me i screamed n dropped him >.< then spent a second yelling at him until i realized how silly i must look tongue.gif my friend is like a bit of a redneck and when ever he held my snake hed shove him in his pants pocket and then reach back in later to grab him out.. i didnt get why the snake didnt bight him since he was being grabbed at in the dark >.<

oh well anyways ill try the glove thing for a while biggrin.gif maybe thatll help! thanks!
