I'm a vet tech and acquired Severus at work one day - someone's cat cornered him in the middle of the night. Not positive of age or morph. Any ideas? Thanks! http://www.msnusers.com/StufftoShow/shoebo...o&PhotoID=3

That would be a bloodred, and a fairly good example. Notice the 'skull' head pattern as well as the checkerless ventrum.

Not a bad 'free' gift, since they normally run $75 and up from bigger breeders. Looks to be a fairly small snake, so I'd assume a 2006 hatchling. Probably can assume a June-August hatch.

I will say the same thing about the hatch date. I guess the size around 22in +/- 2in and the weight around 50g. Calas do you mean the "white " head?

I disagree with Bloodred morph..............thats a High orange Okeetee if anything. I dont think the white on the head in that one is actual color on the snake.

A high orange okeetee? Are you being serious?

That is 100%, without a doubt, unequivocally a bloodred. The grey head in the shape of a 'skull' (see the eyes), overall redness, diffusing sides and clear belly screams bloodred. Okeetees have belly checkers, this snake does not. Okeetees do not have patternless grey heads as hatchlings---this snake does.

I am sorry, but 'high orange okeetee' this snake is not.

And where did you see a belly shot of this snake?

There are several snippets of belly showing in that picture. There are no checkers on that belly, and I'd put my entire collection on that statement.

How in the heck does that snake even look like an okeetee? There are no borders! And when is the last time you saw an okeetee with diffusing sides and a grey head?

I think i have to go with Joe. I looked at several pics and found some fairly good headshots of bloodreds and they all had that head"pattern" that the snake in the pic shows. I looked at my okeetee and it doesnt remotely look like that. But overall all only time wil tell if it is a bloodred for sure.

Wow Joe, you're good! His belly IS completely white! Thanks a lot!

Lol well I'm terrible with morphs but bloodred was my first and only guess. The cat had that cornered? Where did it come from?? That's one heck of a free pet smile.gif

I agree ^.^ that is one heck of a free pet ^.^ Then again mine was free too. A Christmas present from my boyfriend.

Well, it's kind of a funny story...I've always wanted a corn and my husband wouldn't let me. Our last snake rescue at work was a 6 foot long Rosy Boa which was already much too big for his liking. (A live rat had chewed down 16 areas of his body down to the spine. He even nibbled on the spine in a couple spots! He did live.)
I went in to work one day and there was a little tupperware container sitting on our nebulizer. It was a crazy morning and I didn't think anything of it until my Dr. mentioned to check on the snake! I immediately got excited since I love doing reptiles! Inside was a little baby corn! I guess he got loosefrom his owners in an appartment building, they couldn't find him and ended up moving out. The people downstairs had seen him a couple times but couldn't catch him. A month later, their cat was going nuts and they found the snake cornered with the cat hissing and batting at it!
I called my husband and begged him until he caved!
