I have an anery / motley corn who is about a year old but is small (about 15 inches long and slender. I just bumped her up to a small fuzzy every week. I have had her in four different tanks since I got her last year including a 55, a 29, a 20 and a 10. She has always been nippy but seems to be calming down since I moved her to the smaller tank. I was at a pet store this weekend and saw three adult corns and was put back by how big they get. I have several animals in various size tanks and wonder what size tanks are best for corns as they grow? I could eventually place her in a 5.5, 10, 20h, 20L, 29, 30h, 40L or 55. It is just a matter of moving some other animals around (my ball python is my biggest pet currently in the 55 but does not need this big of a tank). I feel bad putting her in a 10g but she seems happiest in this. I could easily move her to a 20gh that i have a dwarf hamster in but i don't want to keep disturbing her as I seem to move her every three months.

i've always heard 20L and thats what i have mine in.....isn't 20H too small for a bp especially since they aren't arboreal?

Hey Bunny, I have my year old corn, roughly about the same size in a 20 gallon high, and he loves it. He's not nippy at all, and is calm as can be. I'd suggest moving him into the 20 high, thats just my opinion though.

I think I will move it this weekend. I just need to switch the snake with a dwarf hamster I have in the 20h. I need to buy new substrate before I move him and I am broke until friday.

Not uncommon for a corn to like smaller tanks^^ My baby is in a 15H and he loves to climb^^. He's not nippy either..actually...he's NEVER tried bitting me and i've only had him for maybe 2 weeks. When I come home from grocery shopping or from getting the mail, he pops his little head up from his slumber and slithers along the adge of the tank. And when I go near the tank he follows me, and if I put my hand on the top of the tank he heads for my hand and just waits to be taken out. He loves just spending time curled up on my hand^^ It is true what snake owners say, they really can be affectionate. Your little girl should be fine in a small tank for now...I make sure that mine can be completely stretched out along the length of his tank and still have a good 3inches or so of space on either end of him. That way he doesn't get cramped up.

corn snakes are usually like floor space rather than height

I agree with that. My Corn doesn't like climbing. I've given him lots to play on but in the end the only time he climps is every now and then when he decides he is going to try and escape. Wich won't happen since the lids loocked. ^.^ Usually though my snake prefers to just hang out in his hide boxes or burrow under the aspen bedding.
