I got a Petco gift card as a belated b-day present, and I made the mistake of looking at the reptiles... I don't usually condone BUYING animals from petco, but this little one was SO much smaller than his cagemates, and curled up in the little faux tree... and you know the rest of the story
so meet Pickle...
he's TINY

I hope he eats for you. I'd also dip his head in water sooner rather than later as it appears he's a bit dehydrated as you can see some folds of skin down on the lower part of the body.
Did Petco say if that snake was eating?

I did 'guide' it to water, and offered it a small pinkie last night, which it accepted readily.
Regurged it by morning, surprise surprise. So I called petco back and explained the situation, and took the snake back to them. I'm not about to try and 'rescue' a petco snake. Maybe that makes me heartless, but I've got too many 'real' rescues to try and rehab a snake that was paid for.

Hmm. There's a reoccuring trend with Petco and Petsmart stores.

yup. That's why I took the snake back... I've gotten flack for 'discriminating' against the snake because I took it back, but if I buy a snake I do expect it to be healthy. If it's already showing signs of being a potentially 'problematic' snake afer less than 36 hours, I am not going to 'eat' the money. I made the mistake of buying a Petco animal, but I did NOT make the mistake of trying to 'rescue' a snake that was, for all I know, sick when it was 'approved' by their 'vet'
I sure did end up with a lot of cypress mulch and aspen instead!

Perhaps you can find a real "rescue" lol that you can use the aspen for ^^ sorry bout the snake but i probably would have done the same...

Sorry he didn't work out, but I think you probably made the right decision. They will just sell it to someone else though....I so hate them! Poor little snake

I do feel for the little dude, but I made sure to tell the manager about it before I took him back, and when I was returning him I told them that I really really thought the snake should be put back in quarantine for at least 2 weeks.
That's the first, and last, time I ever buy an animal from a chain... I really should have known better, seeing that MOST of the rescues I've had surrendered to me in the last several months were chainstore animals, bought because they were cute and cheap. Shame on me, for falling for the same ploy...

Glad you took it back.
I didn't want to come outright and suggest you had bought a sick snake, but the snake did not look healthy at all. Many Petco's sell perfectly fine snakes, you just have to be careful what you bring home.

Yeah, sucky situation... oh well, though, it's done and over with...
My fiance did some calling around(his favorite morph is the snow, but he's never really mentioned it before), and found out that our great LOCAL shop had just gotten in a whole clutch of snows and anerys, and they cut us a major, major deal on a HEALTHY snow, since we're some of their biggest word-of-mouth advertisers, and spend at LEAST $30 a week in there on feeders...
so here's the new snow... Peachie

How much of a deal can be cut on a $20 animal?
