Full Version: Quick question about brumation...

...does one have to do it according to the temperature outside, ie. drop the temp in december and start warming up around mid february(i think). Or can it be changed to meet the breeders "schedule"? I got the Corn Snake manual by Kathy and Bill love, but they just say what their routine is. And from searching the internet, i see that it various breeders range from Nov to early January. Or is it a matter of what works best for the snakes?

I'm really interested in breeding, but well i'm lacking one half of the equation...got a female but no male....

So, thanks for the help, it's greatly appreciated

When I brumate my adults, I start dropping the temperatures in October, and by November they're off heat completely. I usually drop them into 60degree temps the second week of November, and leave them until February. That schedule corresponds with the season change here in Utah, which is usually pretty quick(like 70degrees one day, and 45 the next).
