Full Version: A new corn comes home.
The Reptile Rooms > Snakes > Corns & Rat Snakes

I just went to pick up some crickets at the radent farm near me. Everytime I go in there I have to look in the snake room. Well, it got the best of me and I came home with a little Sunglow Corn. Dang they are addictive.... I got home and was setting up a tank for him. I pulled him out of the deli cup and put him in the feeder tub till I finished setting up the tank. When I got done I was ready to put him in for the first time and I figured Hmmm, no way will he eat yet. I put a little pinkie in and wham He slammed it down the hatch. I waited a few min then put him in his tank. He is settled in under the hide and digesting his first meal in his new home, a jello pudding box. It's ghetto but he seems to like it till he gets an upgrade. Looks like this one will not be a problem feeder at all. I will still wait a few more days now to mess with him anymore though as to give him some settling in time. hopefully all will go well from here out. I will post some pics of the little guy in a few days. Wish my other snakes would eat this easy.
Anyone else have a new snake eat right away with no problems?

Ooooo a sunglow. My fav. I look forward to seeing pics of the little guy. I'm glad to see you're letting him settle in and it's great that he ate so well!

Congrats on the new baby! My corn is a crazy feader as well. She will even eat while I'm still holding her so I have to put her in the feeding tub before I put the mouse in there. Every time I feed her it's like she hasn't eaten in a year, and I have her on a fairly frequent feading schedule. Wish my boa fed that well. Good luch with him!

Just did the second feeding last night. I used a frozen thawed pinkie. hmm It went as good as the first feeding if not better. The corn chased it down and ate No problem at all. Amazing. Acctually got to hold the little guy for a few min. last night also. Seems like a pretty cool snake. My wife is already looking into getting another one or two. And this is the girl who didnt like snakes that long ago.

How often are you feeding the snake?
voodoo13
Right now He is getting fed about every 4-5 days.

Just checking, You should leave at least 4 days inbetween feedings to allow food to digest properly and stomach to settle etc.

I love sunglows to, I need to get one. But that's great you picked a super feeder, my newest snake, a little sand boa, wouldn't eat pre killed pinks for about a month after I got her, she would only eat live, fortunately now she'll eat anything thing in front of her, even me. =^-^= My beauty snake on the other hand, has never turned down food in the three years I've had her, not even when blue. Once she did say no to a mouse, but only because she had just eaten a rat. Can't wait to see pics of your new baby.
