My adult corn Joe has recently gotten a new habit - I reach into his tank to take him out and he hisses. He doesn't lunge or strike at me, he just makes a hissing noise. This behavior just started a few weeks ago. It is almost like he is burping or letting air out of his mouth.
I don't know what caused the hissing to start. It is much warmer in my house and it is normally cold and dry which he seems to do very well in. I was thinking the change in season and temperature and humidity might have him a little out of sorts.
In the past, if you startled him in his tank when going to take him out every once in awhile he would rattle his tail rapidly like he was a rattlesnake. It was funny.
Any one else seen this type of behavior?
