One of my corn snakes has a piece of wood embedded in its skin.. (looks like its embedded in the anus!) and has got all infected...
i tried to take it out, but cant.. and the vets a million miles away and isnt open til 8am tomorrow.. and is going to cost a fortune.. and even more of a bomb if out of hours...
Anybody suggest anything until I can get him to a vet?
Thanks

It really shouldn't cost that much. Obviosuly they'll have to remove the wood from the cloaca, but antibiotic treatments are not that expensive for a snake simply because the dosage is so low. Vets here normally just charge an injection/shot fee because the amount is so small.
I really wouldn't worry TOO much about price, after all, the snake is a pet, right?
In the mean time, get the wood out of the tank and put papertowels down. If you've got a UTH or something of the sort, start upping the temperatures to help the snake get a jumpstart on the infection.
