I put them on a Zip log bag, and then put them on a Hot water bowl until it de-freezes... I find it faster adn easier that way!

Yuppers..seems to be the method of choice..... I zip up the baggy because my Pine snake doesn't like wet mice..lol.
1. Touch test the temp. you don't want it TOO hot or frozen on the inside.
2. top of the fridge? Well if you have a cat like me...well... it won't be there..Lol

Guys, correct me if this isn't alright to do, but in the herpetology lab where I work here at school (Truman State University) we take the mice out of the bag and put them in a bucket of hot water to thaw them. After about 20 minutes (to make sure all ice crystals are gone) we take them out and thoroughly dry and fluff them.

That's fine. The only thing we do different then you is putting it in a plastic bag. It's just less work that way.

its all up the individual, there's no right or wrong way here. Some snakes are just more sensitive to having a wet meal compared to others. As long as it goes down..no worries

now now Skunky,,there is one wrong way (tongue in cheek)... thawed meat left in tempaeratures of 40-140 will only last 2hrs before decomposition starts..
On the WET part, yeah one of my guys is picky. yhe other risk is if you feed witinh the Viv, wet F/T can have ebdding stick to it and ingested causing impaction....
As far as the 'fluffing and drying' ..WOW...my snakes would love ya with that service.Your Hired!!

Lol I do that too!! The fluffing I mean. I put the mice in a baggie and into a bowl of warm water to thaw out, but even in a zip-locked baggie, the water from when it defrosts makes it wet and I don't think my corn likes that much so I dry it off. Though you'd think the watery mouse would go down easier then a dry one, no?

It's funny when we're thawing out food for the snakes. We fill up a bucket (actually was a 5lb fish food container so you can get an idea of the size) and let them soak in warm water for about 20min. If you don't expect it and go into the bathroom you'd be like WTF, haha. We have to leave the bucket in the tub because of our three curious kitties. Feeding 27 snakes at a time is quite a chore! I'm lucky most eat well except the Balls when they go into their annoying "we don't feel like eating for a while" moods. The Burm is a good garbage disposal...he'll eat whatever is left and want more, lol.
