Hi Guys,

well after much consideration im not going to get a Royal..(although I still love them !)

.I handled the most adorable Leucistic Rat Snake at a shop last weekend. He was an adult & very tame, but told by the man in the shop that these are normally very agressive ??

I also handled 2 babies 1 for which striked & the other was ok.

Has anyone got one ?

any advice on temprement would be great...I just keep thinking of the adult one I handled..he was lush..just had ill health but I cant stop thinking about him..he was so lovley.

if you have pics too thats great....cheers guys

well...i've heard that rats are aggressive and i've heard that they're not. my grey rat is the sweetest snake. never bitten me ever. only rattled his tail once, but he wasnt feeling well. i found out he had a bit of a respiratory infection. which cleared up after a week.
i've handled leucistic rats before when i've gone looking at snakes at expos and at a local pet store and from my experience they were pretty docile, never rattled their tails or tried to bite.
they do get larger than corns though...most rats can get to 6 ft. maybe people believe that they may be more aggressive due their larger size? :?

this is my Deckert's rat snake. I wouldn't say he is more aggressive than my corns, he is more nervous and needs more time and cues to tell him he is going to be picked up. He is more active when handled and is not as good at holding on with his tail.
