Well my sister and I have a corn snake on hold from a local breeder. They are just hatching out so we'll be able to pick him/her up in a few weeks. We are very excited. Now we have to get the enclosure set up to start regulating temperatures.
It's going to be normal phase but has 3 recesive genes.

Congrats and be patient. Hatchlings can be very worrysome when it comes to feeding.

ummmm can't totally remember but I believe it is red albino, black albino, and reverse okeetee.
The breeder says he won't sell it to us until it has taken 2 or 3 meals from him. After it has taken a dead meal fine he considers the snake ok to go. How long will it take the hatchling to strike at the pinkie when we go to feed? Just want to know how long we will have to hold it in front of him.

Breeders never let hatchlings go until they have taken about 3 meals. Just to make sure the hatchling will eat ok for the new owner. You'd have to ask the breeder how long it takes for the snake to strike at the pinkie. He/she is the one feeding it lol Congrats on your new pet though! Corn snakes are definitely awesome.

congrats, it is best to feed in a seperate enclosure, i use plastic boxes with click on lids that have little holes drilled in them and i just put the pinky in then the snake and leave it for a while, usually they take about 5 to 10 mins to eat, hope this helps good luck with your new friend

Not everyone feeds their snake out of their enclosure. You need to figure out what works best for you and your snake!!

Thanks for all the advice. I'll let you know in a few weeks how everything is going. Job for tomorrow is setting up the enclosure and starting to regulate temps. Our "accurate" digital thermomter says our house is at around 77, which is very wrong it is more like 70.
