i have had my hatchling corn for about a month. She was shy at first but for the next couple of weeks she was very active starting around 6-7 at night, crawling around her cage, eating well, and just generally looking like a happy snake. Well she has been hiding in her box, and being rather lethargic for the last week. I bought her a pinky Tuesday and was very uninterested. I hear usually corns are usually great eaters, but she refused the first mouse i bought her and now this one. Could she just perhaps not like eating every week?

It is possible that she doesnt want to eat that often but chances are there is something else going on with the snake.
More than likely the underlying problems is either related to stress. Stress could be from too much commotion around the cage, too much handling, or injury from feeding live prey. The other reason could be temperature related which would cause the food to digest slower than normal.

is it possible that she is about to shed? have her eyes gone opaque(clouded over)? snakes seldom take food when they are about to shed. if this is the case, you will notice her colours fade a bit, and her eyes will cloud over, which makes it hard for them to see, which would explain the hiding, and the refusal to feed.

That was exactly what it was; she started shedding just the other day. The only part that has shed is her head; the rest of her skin looks wrinkly but doesn’t seem to be coming off. is that normal? I also moved her to a quieter area; she seems to like it better. Thanks :]

try misting her or soaking her in adish of shallow water this helps as i have used the method myself, and make sure the tip comes off. if this fails letting the snake run though a warm wet towel/damp towel can also help ive been told

try keeping the humidity levels from 50 to 60%....this should take care of the sheding problems.....
