Anyone have suggestions for how/with what to clean the wood items in the viv such as branches and hides? I figure when I do my weekly (or so) complete clean of the tank I should also clean these items, but can't think of any good way to do it. Obviously any chemicals would be out of the question. I thought about just rinsing under hot water, but the wood is so porous I'm afraid it would retain too much moisture, kicking up the humidity, inviting bacteria growth, not to mention the fact that my tap water isn't filtered (it's pretty bad).

Just wipe the wood down with a wet paper towel. The tap water should be okay, the snakes won't be drinking from the branches anyway.

after you clean it stick it in the oven at 400 for an hour and it will kill anything and dry it out at the same time
