I use two, a UVB that generates the heat, and a UVA that just provides the light, and warms the cool side just enough.
Will depend on what kind of enclosure you are using and how big it is. |

We had a good discussion on different types of lighting the other day. Here's the link. http://www.reptilerooms.com/forumtopic-2712.html
Ksgrd, are you sure you mean UVB that generates heat? Do you mean a Murcury Vapor Bulb? That's the only type that produces UVB and heat. I just don't want it to be assumed that a regular florescent UVB light can be used for heat. Those have to be used in addition to a heat lamp, unless we're talking about MVB. -------------------- -Mandee

You know what kephy, I'm not sure exactly what kind it is.
I'm at work now so i cant check :-) But Im quite sure it is not a Mercury Vapor. It may not be 'designed' to heat the enclosure, but it sure does a nice job of it. The hot end is always in the high 90's and low 100's. I know I have replaced the two lamps that were in there with a UVB and a UVA....but which went to the hot side, and whice went to the cool side I'm not sure of  |
