This is one of the saddest things I have heard in a long time. He did so much for the animals and environment. I really wish his family well and hope we see more from terri, bindi, and robert in the future. R.I.P. Steve Irwin

Reptiles have lost their biggest advocate ever. He did more to enlighten people about reptiles and expecially bring chikdren to an understanding and appreciation of them, than anyone.

I had heard about this only an hour after it was reported, and I have been terribly upset since. He was truly the one of the most amazing men on this planet, and my role model. My only consolation is that he died doing what he loved, working with animals, which is the one thing one could hope for. He will truly be missed. RIP Steve Irwin. Thank you for teaching the world so much...

He always said a croc would get him. So ironic. His huge personality, his convictions, and his big, big smile will always be missed. I can only imagine the shock and sadness his family and friends are feeling. Rest in Peace Steve. Our hearts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.

Steve's death is such a tragic loss.........I am numbed by the reality of it still. I don't believe I've ever seen anyone with the level of passion and sincerity (for anything) as he displayed for for wildlife. He was absolutely a champion in his conservation efforts. I, along with countless others, will miss you Steve.....you were truly one of a kind.
