Exo Terra Explorarium

Alice, so called due to her Cooperesque black stripes running vertically through here eyelids, was rather taken back after being informed she was going to be the test pilot for this new product from Exo Terra.
Your reptiles love outdoors with fresh air, sunlight and the natural heat that surrounds them. But you have to be careful of that heat. You cannot use glass or any plastic which has no air flow as the animals will overheat, but Hagen (under their Exo Terra label) just started marketing these round Explorariums that work well and are safe.
Constructed of extra strong nylon mesh , they are designed with a support loop on top that you can hang them from a tree, stand or hook and also have a plastic lined tray in the bottom to prevent messes from leaking. Being mesh they do not heat up and put the animal at risk of burns as metal mesh cages often do.
The zipper opening on the side of this cage, the one we tested being the "Medium" size, is very handy for placing chameleons, anoles, small iguanas, water dragons and other arboreal species through when setting this up on your own. Because the opening is relatively small, once you've placed the animal inside, you can easily pull your hand back out and zip it up without inhabitants escaping.

Being able to suspend these allows you to keep them off the ground or a table surface that could heat up and injure or burn them. It also helps to prevent ants or other insects get to your beloved pets, potentially posing lethal risks. A clip on the inside of the top of the cages allows for vines or branches to be easily hung, and removed when you need to pack the cage down.
Speaking of packing the cage down, a really nice feature of this cage is that they collapse and snap down easily to fit neatly into the circular bag provided (not shown), for travel or storage without having to take pieces apart. A few snaps undone and they spring back to full size, ready to add the reptile through the easy access side zipper door. There is an additional small hatch at the top, which is held closed by hook-and-loop strips allowing easy access to add crickets or other feeders without having to open the main cage opening. That is, for those of you housing reptiles that actually eat bugs.
Alice is, of course, completely vegetarian!
Currently available in 3 sizes they can be found online at ReptileSupply.com.
